The annual Fourth of July celebration is truly one of our favorite things to do in Dover: packed with activities and attractions for all ages, Delaware’s Quaint Villages puts on an especially memorable display for Independence Day. If you’ve been considering visiting Kent County, this long weekend is the perfect time to do so — experience the best of Delaware’s historic charm at the peak of summer.
Dover will be bursting with events this Fourth of July: between a Historic Dover scavenger hunt to themed historic walks and food and craft vendors, it’s the perfect location for a mini-getaway. As celebrators line the streets, all of Dover’s favorite attractions will hold themed events, from the National Bell-Ringing Ceremony at The Old State House on The Green to guided tours of Legislative Hall.
Traveling with the little ones? They’ll go wild for our kid-friendly events. This year’s free children’s activities include a moon bounce, pony rides and petting zoo! Fuel up for the parade and fireworks at one of the many food vendors, and then settle in for the old-fashioned Fourth of July parade with music, marchers, antique cars and more. To cap it all off, fireworks set to the soundtrack of massive Broadway hit Hamilton start at dusk!
